Miko's Tumbly Pebble Parade
Mistakes are how we learn — every oops is a step closer to hooray
Setting: A sun-drenched savanna edging into desert dunes with a central sparkling oasis on a warm spring morning, golden grasses swaying, thorny acacias dotting the horizon, red termite mounds rising tall under brilliant blue skies
Characters
- Miko — meerkat pup: A slender meerkat pup with light brown fur speckled with darker spots, black eye patches around wide sparkling blue eyes, always standing upright on hind legs, wearing a bright yellow scarf tied in a knot at the neck
- Fina — fennec fox kit: A fluffy fennec fox kit with creamy white fur and tan ear tips, enormous pinkish ears edged in black, huge curious amber eyes, bushy black-tipped tail, petite bouncy body with extra-large ears twice the head size
- Wuzzy — warthog piglet: A chubby warthog piglet with sparse wiry brown bristles on back, grayish-pink warty skin on bumpy face and body, tiny curved white tusks peeking out, small shiny black eyes, short sturdy legs and curly tail
Full Story
Scene 1: Miko, Fina, and Wuzzy stacked shiny pebbles high at the oasis. 'Our tower will be the tallest!' cheered Miko, standing extra tall. Oops! It tumbled with a clatter!
Scene 2: The pebbles rolled fast into the acacia grove. 'Quick, chase them!' squeaked Fina, ears flapping. Wuzzy huffed and puffed behind.
Scene 3: Over the rocks the pebbles bounced! Miko slipped on a stone, giggling wildly. 'They're getting away!' laughed Fina.
Scene 4: Down the sandy dune whooshed the pebbles. Fina tumbled in soft sand, fluffy tail flying. 'Whee! What a slide!' snorted Wuzzy.
Scene 5: Around termite mounds the pebbles zipped. Wuzzy bumped one—poof! Dust clouds everywhere. 'Cough! Sneeze!' yelped Miko.
Scene 6: Through tall grass the pebbles dashed. Fina's ears snagged on stems—zoom! Miko and Wuzzy yanked her free, all giggling.
Scene 7: Into the riverbed rolled the pebbles fast. Wuzzy splashed in leftover mud—splat! Everyone got muddy and slippy.
Scene 8: Near the big baobab the pebbles swirled in circles. 'They're dancing!' gasped Fina. But oh no—they headed for the thorns!
Scene 9: Pebbles plunged into flower patch—squish! Petals flew like confetti. 'Stop them together!' cried Miko.
Scene 10: Up the hill the pebbles rolled one last time. Friends tugged hard—plink! The pebbles stopped at the top.
Scene 11: Safe in the canyon, the pebbles sparkled like treasure. 'Look what we made!' said Fina, eyes wide with wonder.
Scene 12: The pebbles made a twisty slide on the big rock! Down they whooshed—whee! Friends hugged, laughing in the sunshine.
